Selection Criteria:
Applicants must possess:
• A commitment to the principles of unionism and social change
• A commitment to equal opportunities and diversity
• Sound knowledge and expertise in adult education and participatory education techniques
• Excellent communication skills
• The ability to travel interstate on a regular basis.
Applicants should possess:
• Some experience of curriculum development
• Knowledge of industrial relations law in Australia
• A reasonable level of basic computer literacy.
Other useful attributes:
• An awareness of modern organising techniques
• Specific knowledge of the manufacturing industry and/or the AMWU

Job Description:
The duties of a national education officer are:

1. To successfully deliver a wide range of different courses to delegates, as required by the program schedule. The full range of courses is described in the delegate education guide.
2. To travel as required to regional areas and interstate to deliver courses as determined by the national schedule. To assist in the production of a schedule of courses for the geographical area covered by the national education officer.
3. To work together with member educators when delivering courses and to help develop their skills and expertise.
4. To assist administration staff by providing reports and administration forms to enable an accurate data base of delegate education to be maintained within the Union.
5. To work together with national and state officials to prepare curriculum for specialist courses in order to meet particular educational or organisational needs.
6. To work together with other education officers to develop the curriculum of the program.
7. To contribute to the national development program for delegates and to help generally with their development.
8. To contribute as required to the National Officials and Officers Education Program.
